Take Effect are a post-punk band from Hamburg formed in January 2023. The music takes inspiration from indie, alternative and punk rock. Expect plenty of energetic riffs from the guitars, impactful bass and high-energy drums.

Style:

 

The music takes inspiration from punk, indie and alternative rock, with a mix between distortion and melody, and traditional singing blended with some punk elements such as Sprechgesang. Lyrics are thought through carefully to strike a balance between being catchy and insightful. Topics chosen are either personal - such as overthinking, memory retention and indecision - or observed - such as a willingness to promote new music, giving compliments, and the effect of social media on overtourism!

Expect plenty of energetic riffs from the guitars, often with distortion and sometimes effects such as delay or chorus, as well as let ring distortion, raking and palm muting methods. Bass lines are beyond simple root notes and are based more on impact, and are given their own space to form melody when needed. Drums are often high-paced to drive the correct energy for the songs.

Members:

Ryan is the guitarist and currently also doing lead vocals. He has most recently played as one of the guitarists in London-based indie group Pepper’s Ghost. He played gigs as part of the local scene, culminating with a gig at the O2 Islington, before moving to Hamburg in late 2022.

​

Alex is the bass player of the band. With years of experience playing in different band projects and composing own songs, he brings an unique style and lots of energy to the music of Take Effect. He is living in Hamburg since fall 2020.

Joule is the drummer and our newest member, joining in October 2023.
